MOJU and e2b create a sustainable, chilled DTC operation

Functional juice shots brand MOJU is following a brief to help people live with more mojo by ensuring everyone has access to the freshest functional shots. Launching a direct-to-consumer (DTC) offering was key to developing an additional sales channel for its innovative products, while also nurturing its relationship with customers.

To ensure MOJU’s DTC sales channel delivered the very best experience for customers, it required a fulfilment partner that could work with the brand to develop an innovative packaging solution.

With 40 years’ experience in fulfilment and the food and drink industry, e2b was an obvious choice of partner for MOJU, with both brands also sharing a strong commitment to sustainability.

What did MOJU need?

The ability to sell DTC was key to MOJU’s growth strategy. It would give customers the opportunity to purchase its full product range, as well as exclusives, subscriptions and bundles, while ensuring the brand could scale up its operations successfully.

Through the development of a DTC offer, MOJU could also enable sales via Amazon, which provided a huge platform for future reach and growth. The brand also wanted to enhance its customer relationships and loyalty by creating a forum to support new product development.

Both MOJU and e2b are committed to sustainability and reducing their environmental impact. With MOJU’s commitment to sustainable packaging and e2b’s work on becoming B Corp accredited by 2026, the packaging solution would need to incorporate recycled materials and be fully

The challenge

Speed, sustainability and a sophisticated packaging solution would be vital to the success of MOJU’s DTC service.

The key challenges identified by the team included:

  • Short lead times – MOJU’s products would need to be delivered next working day if ordered before 1pm.
  • Ambient / chilled goods – maintaining optimum temperature throughout the delivery process to ensure product integrity and first-class customer experience.
  • Recycled and recyclable packaging – a solution would need to be developed to meet both brands’ commitment to sustainability and customer expectations.

Overcoming challenges via collaboration

Within e2b’s warehouse, MOJU’s products are stored chilled. To avoid the need for a chilled logistics network, the two brands worked together to develop a packaging and ambient logistics solution that could support the products during dispatch and delivery.

Ambient logistics ensures goods maintain their temperature range throughout the distribution process – rather than precise temperature management – and arrive with the customer in optimal condition.

e2b extensively tested a range of packaging options that would meet MOJU’s high sustainability standards, whilst ensuring temperature and the integrity of the products were maintained at all times.

Successfully delivering innovation

MOJU and e2b’s partnership has delivered success for its DTC offering at every stage.

e2b has demonstrated its ability to be agile and flexible at every stage of the operation, working closely with clients like MOJU to develop a solution that meets all of its needs and ensuring goods are delivered next working day if ordered before 1pm.

The innovative solution that MOJU and e2b have worked closely to deliver has enabled them to achieve excellent service levels for the DTC service – over 99% of orders are delivered on time, in full and within the optimum temperature range.

Due to MOJU’s fresh and chilled DTC offering, some UK postcodes are unavailable for next day delivery, such as the islands and Highlands, which require a two-day delivery window.

Review scores from customers also underline the success of the partnership, as MOJU currently has 6.8k 5-star reviews.

The packaging meets B Corp standards and ensures products are delivered sustainably, while materials are ethically sourced for customer peace of mind.

In addition, e2b has developed a new ambient service offering for DTC ecommerce fulfilment that it can utilise for other clients as its business grows.
